Akpabio Rejects Planned Solidarity Rally in Akwa Ibom, Urges Supporters to Stay Away

The President of the 10th Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, distanced himself on Thursday from a scheduled solidarity rally in his home town in Akwa Ibom State, stating that he is unaware of who the organizers are.

A response was provided through a declaration released by his Special Advisor for Media Issues, Jackson Udom.

In the press statement called 'Ignore Any Gathering in Akwa Ibom Claiming Support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio,' the ex-governor advised his followers not to attend the event, cautioning them about potential hidden agendas held by those organizing it.

He stated, "The Office of Senator Godswill Akpabio, who serves as the President of the Senate, has become aware of a scheduled gathering reportedly organized to show support for him. This event is claimed to be orchestrated by an unidentified group called 'Progressive Peoples' Resolution,' under the leadership of Ubong Idemudo—a figure known for controversy—and set to take place tomorrow, April 4th."

The President of the Senate has no knowledge of any rally organized in his favor at any location within Akwa Ibom state. He consequently appeals to his supporters and all peaceful citizens of Akwa Ibom State to ignore this purported rally and continue with their legitimate activities.

The scheduled demonstration, based on gathered details, has been orchestrated by individuals acting as internal saboteurs aiming to exploit the Senate President’s reputation to fulfill their nefarious objectives.

Consequently, the Senate President called upon the security agencies to act quickly and prevent the rally from taking place.

"The police and other security agencies in the state have been instructed through this statement to prevent the satanic rally from taking place, as it does not have approval from the Senate President," the announcement stated.
