India's Historical Sadness: CPI-M MP John Brittas Reacts to the Passage of Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 in Parliament
New Delhi [India], April 4 (ANI): After the approval of the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 in the Parliament, CPI-M MP John Brittas On Friday, they stated that this marks a sorrowful chapter in Indian history.

The Parliament passed the Waqf Amendment Bill In the wee hours of Friday following an extended and intense debate, 2025 was reached.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar stated, "In favor 128, opposed 95, absent none. The bill has been approved."
The 'Mussalman Wakf (Abolition) Bill, 2024' was also approved by the Parliament. Lawmakers continued their session past midnight to ensure the bill’s passage.
The Union Minorities Affairs Minister, Kiren Rijiju, has charged that opposition parties are attempting to deceive the public with misinformation. Waqf Amendment Bill and mentioned it would advantage countless individuals from the Muslim community.
Replying to the over 12-hour-long debate on the bill in Rajya Sabha Rijiju mentioned that numerous proposals put forth by the Joint Parliamentary Committee have been included in the amended legislation.
Lok Sabha, which took up discussion on the Waqf (Amendment Bill) on Wednesday, passed it past midnight after a marathon debate.
Rijiju said that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, will be renamed as the UMEED (Unified Waqf Management Empowerment Efficiency and Development) Bill.
Following the incorporation of suggestions from the Joint Parliamentary Committee that reviewed the legislation tabled last August, the government presented an updated version of the bill. This new draft aims to modify the Act established in 1995 with the objective of enhancing the governance and oversight of waqf properties within India.
The Bill aims to overcome the shortcomings of the previous act and enhance the efficiency of Waqf boards, improving the registration process and increasing the role of technology in managing waqf records. (ANI)
