Group Urges Tinubu to Advise EFCC, Says Achimugu
A youth organization affiliated with the Council of Nigeria Youth Advocate (CNYA) has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for labeling socialite Aisha Achimugu as wanted.
As such, the organization has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct the EFCC to cease its actions against Achimugu, referring to her as a "businesswoman" who plays a role in national progress.
President of CNYA, Ambassador Haruna Gambar, stated on Thursday in Abuja that the EFCC was incorrect in declaring Achimugu as wanted due to allegations involving criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
He stated: "The allegation of money laundering against Achimugu, which the EFCC desires to pursue, is entirely incorrect and malicious. Their aim is to obstruct her progress since she operates as a private entrepreneur in Nigeria. She has been successfully aiding Nigeria’s growth and generating employment for Nigerian youth."
We urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to advise the EFCC as this could deter potential investors from entering Nigeria. Dr. Aisha Achimugu is a Nigerian patriot who chose to invest in her own country, aiming to create job opportunities for young people; however, certain individuals are spreading false narratives suggesting she is involved in money laundering.

"We urgently implore the EFCC to promptly delete the name and image of Dr. Aisha Achimugu from their website and wanted list," the organization declared. "As a professional entity, they must be aware of the consequences of permitting individuals to use their platform for such persecutions," the statement read.
Ambassador Haruna Gambar, the president of CNYA, contended that Achimugu received a national honor from the Federal Government due to her significant efforts towards the country's progress and growth.
Consequently, he appealed to the President to step in personally to prevent "certain individuals" from undermining what Tinubu is diligently striving to establish, particularly regarding the public’s view of the nation's anti-corruption organizations.
He warned that CNYA and other youth organisations in the country would not allow “a few individuals” to destroy her business and the reputation she has built for decades.
