Mohsin Naqvi Assumes Leadership as New ACC President - International Edition (English)
In Pakistan on April 4th, the Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB) Chairperson, Mohsin Naqvi, took office as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) according to an official statement from the organization. Naqvi takes over from Shammi Silva, who leads Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC). "I feel greatly honored to be appointed president of the Asian Cricket Council,” stated Naqvi based on the ACC’s report. “Cricket continues to thrive most vibrantly in Asia, and I'm dedicated to collaborating closely with every national board to further enhance this sport both within and beyond the continent." Naqvi expressed his thanks towards the former ACC President for their guidance and efforts. Silva commented positively about stepping down, saying he felt privileged serving as the council's head. "The unwavering dedication shown by each participating nation has significantly boosted the standing of the ACC throughout the area.” He acknowledged Jay Shah, current chair at the International Cricket Council (ICC), recognizing how they achieved notable progress such as acquiring record-breaking financial terms for broadcasting rights associated with the ACC Asia Cup tournament, establishing fresh competition formats, and promoting ongoing advancements in cricket practices across Asia.
