ATM 2025: Luxury Travel Takes Center Stage as Global Demand Soars

•The luxury travel sector expected to hit $391 billion by 2028

The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) will showcase the booming luxury travel industry when it takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from April 28 to May 1, extending until May 28.

Gathering premier hospitality companies, key players from the sector, and pioneering tourist locations, this gathering will highlight the developments and perspectives that are defining luxury travel.

McKinsey & Company predicts that the market for luxury travel and hospitality will expand more rapidly than any other sector. This growth can be attributed mainly to an increase in high-net-worth individuals worldwide along with a burgeoning group of potential luxury travelers ready to spend greater portions of their earnings on top-tier experiences.

According to the study, the sector of luxury tourism and hospitality is projected to grow to $391 billion by 2028, escalating from $239 billion in 2023, as Asia makes substantial strides within this market niche.

The Carnival Calabar Review Committee convenes to hone and elevate the festival's concept. A new tourism blueprint aims to reshape and ensure Ekiti’s long-term economic prosperity. NIHOTOUR collaborates with NIS to boost Nigeria’s travel sector.

Supporting this trend, data recently issued by the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf revealed that GCC states earned $110.4 billion in international tourism revenues in 2023.

The biggest group of visitors originated from the Asia-Pacific region (38 percent), succeeded by the Middle East (25.1 percent), Europe (22.9 percent), Africa (8.8 percent), and the Americas (4.3 percent).

Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Markets, said: “The increase in inbound tourism from Asia and the growing wealth in this region create a major opportunity for Middle Eastern tourism, especially in the luxury sector.

At ATM, Asia stands out as one of our quickest-expanding markets for exhibitors, showing a notable 27 percent rise in participants from the area this year.

National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) from countries including Japan, Maldives, South Korea, India, and Thailand are leading this expansion. Alongside them, regional tourism authorities such as those for Rajasthan, Goa, Phuket, Hong Kong, and Jakarta are also playing significant roles. These entities are collectively enhancing Asia's profile at ATM 2025 and amplifying the emphasis on high-end travel.

The GCC region is ideally positioned to cater to high-net-worth travellers seeking leading hotels and exclusive experiences. To meet rising demand, GCC countries are on track to add 400,000 hotel rooms by 2030, following the addition of 35,000 rooms in the last decade.

In 2025, ATM will showcase some of the globe’s premier upscale travel spots, like the Maldives and Mauritius, along with Peru, making a comeback after a decade-long absence. Attendees can explore Peru’s luxurious experiences, from desert camping in Ica and traversing the Sacred Valley to embarking on opulent voyages down the Amazon River and railway adventures through the stunning Andean scenery, blending spectacular views with exceptional hospitality.

Several prestigious hospitality brands will also be showcased, including Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Jumeirah International, One & Only, Kempinski Hotels, The Address Hotels & Resorts and The Leading Hotels of the World.

Luxury travel is transforming in terms of consumer preferences, with travellers increasingly prioritising luxury cultural, artistic, and adventure-driven experiences. Hospitality brands worldwide are adapting to meet this demand, while sustainability has become a key focus, particularly in the GCC, where hotels are implementing eco-friendly initiatives to align with the growing preference for responsible, high-end travel.

Improved accessibility is also reshaping luxury travel, with emerging destinations benefitting from improved connectivity and the development of boutique hotels, eco resorts and exclusive retreats. This trend is reflected in the theme for ATM 2025: Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity,” which focuses on how better connectivity enables a more sustainable, inclusive, and globally integrated travel industry.

The ATM 2025 Conference Program aims to gather leading figures in the hospitality sector along with specialists in upscale tourism, offering perspectives on recent developments within the field. The agenda features discussions such as Generational Influences Driving Hyper-Personalization in Luxury, hosted jointly by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Fairmont, and Minor Hotels; alongside another session titled Enhancing Experiences for Wealthy Travelers through Customized Design, which includes contributions from representatives at Kempinski, Banyan Tree Holdings, GSIQ, and Matter of Form.
