From Aspirants to Residents: Engage with Politics

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Babatunde Sobowale, who is seeking the chairmanship of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has organized a Ramadan lecture.

At the gathering, speakers motivated attendees to engage actively in political actions.

Sheikh Yunus Jamiu, from Mufti Diyaar of Alimosho, emphasized utilizing power and authority for attaining divine objectives.

As per his view, the concept of leadership within Islam began with the arrival of Prophet Muhammad, who advised his disciples to always select a leader whenever they embarked on a journey.

The prophet merged within himself the roles of divine envoy, political leadership, and military command—much as they exist today. It is attributed to Prophet Muhammad that he stated: 'Whoever follows their leader complies with my teachings, whereas whoever disobeys their leader rebels against me, Muhammad.'

Sheikh Jamiu outlined certain criteria for selecting leaders, including "choosing according to an Islamic viewpoint, showing mercy, being wise through knowledge and leadership abilities, ensuring fairness and justice, and being male."

Host Tunde Sobowale expressed his gratitude to God for bringing the event to fruition.

He stated the essence of the gathering was to educate Muslim members “Islam and Politics” and “Importance of Sadaqatul Jariya”.

"This public Ramadan lecture is unprecedented for TS projects, and we hope it will continue. God willing," he stated.

Sheikh Sulaimon Ibrahim said Zakat is another pillar of Islam, meant to purify one’s wealth and encourage the rich to assist the needy.

He mentioned that items eligible for Sadaqah encompass edibles, monetary donations, and extending kindness to those who are disadvantaged.
