Mellon Mogaka: Widow Denied Funds Raised for Kids' Education After Grave Assault
- Mellon Mogaka along with her parents are still recovering from the severe beatings and harassment she endured at her ex-husband's funeral.
- Mellon's mother tearfully recounted how she couldn't fathom the situation when her daughter was made to consume dirt and water, followed by having her shoes thrown into the burial pit.
- Prior to those events occurring, Mellon had been alerted about a planned scheme to seize the house she constructed alongside her spouse but did not receive any portion of the funds generated from the contributions.
Nyamira : Mellon Mogaka, the woman was heavily assaulted by her inlaws at her estranged husband's gravesite, has shared that the money contributed for her kids was also taken away.
Why was Mellen harrased?
Mellen, who works at a hospital in Narok, had a very difficult time at her husband's burial as she was beaten badly because she had refuse to throw soil into her husband's grave.
As per Mellen, they had gone their separate ways and resided apart.
Prior to being assaulted, another attendee informed Mellen that her in-laws had devised a scheme to claim his house.
Mellen stated, 'I requested from my father-in-law to allow the body to remain in my home for just 20 minutes, but he firmly insisted that this would not happen and contacted the chief to caution me about potential disruptions.'
"According to the law, you can’t instruct us on what to do," she said additionally.
While the pastor was delivering his sermon, he mentioned that the children would stay with their family and receive an education. Unfortunately, this did not come to pass.
Approximately 20 pastors arrived, greeting us. Shortly thereafter, when contributions were made, a gentleman inquired whether someone received that money. Boda boda riders lined up all the way to the main road; we felt surrounded, and the treasurer from Narok had to turn over the funds,” he disclosed.
That is when mayhem officially started and the people with huge sticks beat up the Mellen and her mother.
Nakuru-based police officer Sammy Ngare Ondimu told UbiNews.co.ke He sought out Mellen to get advice on filing a complaint against those who had attacked her during the funeral.
A day after Mellen was harassed, police have taken some of the perpetrators into custody while a man is on the run and some women are yet to be identified.
A mouner who had accomonied her allhed a plot to also grab a house that they had built together.
I went to my father-in-law and asked if the body should be taken there.

The pole seems to have gone through many tough times as far as we can tell, he appears quite successful these people are truly genuine but very simple. In yet another account, it was revealed that once the attendees had departed, Mellen was compelled to consume dirt from the burial site, and her possessions were likewise tossed into the grave.
Mellon's mother, puzzled by the customs of her new family, mentioned that her daughter's shoes and handkerchiefs had also been tossed into the burial site.
Several participants in the entire incident were detained, while some remain at large.
